The Photographer

I’m Liliya Gorlanova — an author and documentary photographer based in Dubai.

Since 2007, I have been observing people through the camera — first through weddings and family stories, and over time through deeper, long-term human narratives. For years, I witnessed how individuals grow, choose, fail, love, and rebuild themselves.

My work is rooted in one belief: strength begins with honesty.

I explore responsibility, choice, and the quiet transformation that happens when a person decides to stand for themselves.

Photography, for me, is not about performance. It is about presence. Not about perfection — but about truth.

Over the years, my work has been internationally recognized, with numerous award-winning images in wedding photojournalism. Selected awards can be viewed in AWARDS section.

Today, my focus is on short-form documentary commissions and long-term personal projects. I work with individuals and families who are ready to be seen honestly.

I currently develop several documentary projects in Dubai.
